Frequently Asked Questions

What is Hospice?

Hospice is about embracing the hope to live as fully as
possible, in comfort and dignity, even in the face of advanced illness. Hospice care focuses on quality of life, emotional support for the entire family, in-home management of medical needs, and the advanced management of pain and symptoms.

Who is eligible for hospice care?

Those diagnosed with a life-limiting condition with a prognosis of 6 months or less. Those with illness in which curative measures are no longer effective, appropriate, or desired.

When is the time for hospice care?

Generally, it is time for hospice when doctors are offering a prognosis of 6 months or less. It is better to begin hospice care early rather than late. Many people are referred too late to fully benefit from all the services offered through hospice.
